What The Heck Is Mannatech?

The Food and Drug Administration (more commonly referred to as the FDA), recently slammed MLM opportunity Mannatech with a warning regarding multiple violations its completed through its manufacturing and product labeling process.

On November 14, a letter was addressed and sent to Mannatech’s CEO and President Alfredo Bala. In the letter, the FDA informs Bala that it conducted an investigation of Mannatech’s manufacturing plant for around a night on December 28 of last year.

Along with this and reviewing the labeling process for Mannatech’s products this May, the FDA listed a host of violations that Mannatech has committed.

For the company’s BounceBack product, the FDA says that it should be classified as an “unapproved new drug.” Another product called MannaBears is reportedly not labeled properly by saying there’s “no artificial color” even though it has coloring from fruit and vegetable juice.

Speaking of MannaBears, that’s not the only violation this product is faced with. MannaBears contains carrots, cauliflower, kale, papayas, pineapple juice powder, tomatoes and broccoli cited as providing vitamins A, B6, C, E and K, thiamin, iron, riboflavin, niacin, folate, calcium, phosphorus, biotin, manganese, beta-carotene, potassium and dietary fiber, but none of this are listed as ingredients in it.

The serving size listed on MannBears’ table is also incorrect, and although the product is marketed to buyers as a dietary supplement, it isn’t cited as this on its labeling.

Mannatech Scam

There are a host of other products that the FDA found violations with, but the concerns continue with the MannBears offering.

In addition to the above complaints, the FDA discovered that MannaBears has issues with listing the fruit and vegetable powders that are included, the use of the FDA disclaimer is not correct, MannaBears is listed as gluten-free even though it isn’t, and other marketing talk for the product is deceiving for what’s actually offered.

Moving over to manufacturing violations of Mannatech, the FDA states that their inspection of the company “revealed [Mannatech] failed to comply with Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations for dietary supplements. These violations cause your dietary supplement products to be adulterated.”

After these concerns were initially brought to light, Mannatech responded to them on January 31, 2017. Despite this, the FDA’a latest letter that was just sent out this month claims that it’s been “unable to determine the adequacy of [Mannatech’s] corrective actions.”

Following all of this, the FDA says it’ll be doing yet another inspection of the manufacturing facilities to see what exactly has been changed to comply with the FDA’s standards.

Whatever happens after this could have big implications for Mannatech going forward, so I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
