What Is Fireflies?

On the Fireflies website, you won’t find any background info revealing who owns the company, when it was founded, where it’s based out of, etc.

This lack of readily available information is disappointing to see, but after a bit more digging, it is possible to understand what’s taking place behind the scenes.

The domain name for Fireflies’ site (fireflies.com) was initially registered all the way back on January 27, 1999. However, the current owner likely took charge of it when the domain was updated on December 17, 2017.

Gergo Hegedus from Swiss Halley AG is now listed as the active owner, and the registration was updated through an address over in Zurich, Switzerland.

Swiss Halley AG claims some of the copyright content on the Fireflies website, but aside from that, it’s difficult to determine the exact relationship between the two companies.

According to Gergo’s LinkedIn page, he was the Director of Operations at Swiss Halley between May 2011 and May 2015. Beginning in June 2015, Gergo then began credited himself as the General Manager and Co-Owner of Online Travel Support

Looking then at Gergo’s Twitter account, it’s stated here that he’s been involved with Swiss Halley since as far back as 2012.

Fast forward to March 2017, a video was uploaded with the title “Mr. Urlich Marki – Swiss Halley AG. CEO (Fireflies).” The video was uploaded to the YouTube channel with the account name Team Revolution Training.

I tried to find more information about Marki, but likely due to language barriers, was unable to do so.

Fireflies Scam

What Products Are Being Sold?

On the product line side of things, the Fireflies website is being used as a way to offer discounted travel plans/packages. It’s unclear who’s exactly providing these plans, and if you try to buy any of the deals, you’ll be prompted to log in with your Fireflies account.

In other words, only Fireflies affiliates have access to these plans.

If you’d like to be a Fireflies member, you can purchase one of the “travel packages” being offered to you. There are three main ones to choose from, including —

  • Basic — $556/year
  • Smart — $1668 for a 5-year subscription
  • Life — $3892 for a 99-year subscription

Upon signing up as a member, you’ll be able to earn Diamond vouchers, holiday coupons, and something referred to as “best price option” points.

You can purchase even more of these if you’d like, including but not limited to —

  • Loyalty Plus for $1728
  • Loyalty Pro for $4032
  • Holiday Coupon for $23.60
  • Best Price Option for $20

Based on what I’m seeing, the “best price option” gives you an 8% discount on whatever travel plan you’re booking.

Info On The Fireflies Comp Plan

As an affiliate for Fireflies, you have the chance to earn on retail and recruitment commissions.

A 5% rate is offered when you sell Basic, Smart, and Life plans to other people, in addition to an extra 3% commission if you also sell any of the Loyalty Packages.

There doesn’t appear to be any real distinction between retail customers and affiliates, so what you’re essentially doing is joining, paying a fee, and then recruiting other people to do the same.

Along with this, Fireflies also offers residual commissions, a heap of bonuses, and a complex comp plan that’d take far too long to go through every little detail.

What Will It Cost Me To Join Fireflies?

If you want to join Fireflies for yourself, you’ll need to pay $69 for your first year of membership and then $56/year afterwards.

Additionally, you’ll need to purchase the Basic, Smart, or Life plans.

Any Truth To The Fireflies Rumours?

Any time a new business opportunity launches, you will always hear rumours about them being scams – so is Fireflies a scam?

From reading above, you might already be thinking Fireflies is a scam.

So, is it?

Is there a Fireflies scam, or is it legit?

To be honest, Fireflies isn’t a scam.

However, there are some red flags to be worried about, which I discuss in the conclusion.

See my tips below for helping to make money.

And Now, My Fireflies Conclusion

At the end of the day, Fireflies is too confusing for its own good.

While there is technically a retail offering here, the presentation is bonkers. Fireflies requires retail customers to understand the value of diamond and travel vouchers, and this added complexity will turn off any normal retail customer in an instant.

As for the affiliate side of things, the comp plan has everything boiling down to not much more than a recruitment-heavy operation.

You join, pay your fees, and then get other people to follow suit so you can start earning your commissions.

I suppose you could technically join and do your best to focus solely on retail, but doing so will likely see you earning next to nothing.

Instead of dealing with all of the headaches that’ll likely come with a membership to Fireflies, I advise just taking your time and money elsewhere.

I hope you have gained value from my Fireflies Review.

I have put all the details you need to know here, because all other reviews of Fireflies have been fairly limited with details.
