Market America – What Is It??

Market America is a company that’s based out of North Carolina in the United States, and it’s centered in the MLM niche of e-commerce.

Founded all the way back in 1992, Market America is run by the husband and wife team James Howard and Loren Ridinger. James Ridinger is the CEO and Chairman for Market America, and Loren Ridinger is serving as the company’s Executive Vice President.

Before Loren founded Market America with her husband, she was one of the top affiliates for Amway at that point in time.

In addition to operating in the United States, Market America also operates in Canada, Australia, Philippines, United Kingdom, Mexico, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Spain.

When it first launched, Market America was promoted and advertised as a publicly traded entity.

In 1999, the United States’ SEC issued a complaint against the company and said that Ridinger, “violated the antifraud and other provisions of the federal securities laws in connection with an unregistered distribution of Market America stock and other activities.”

This matter was soon settled for $2 million, and two years later all outstanding shares of Market America were purchased by Ridinger.

Consequently, Market America was no longer available on the public market.

The Product Line For Market America

When it comes to the product line that Market America is offering, the company doesn’t actually manufacture anything that it sells.

As per the Market America website, the company, “forms long-lasting relationships with vendors and manufacturer…that will produce consistent quality products from year to year.”

Market America has exclusive products that. it sells through its online storefront, and it also sells other items via its “shop.com” domain.

Via “shop.com“, this site offers, “millions of additional products and services from well-known stores like Target, Nike, Apple, and more. The cost is the same as it would be shopping directly from the store’s site, but Market America is able to pay Cashback, whereas individual sites do not.”

Market America does not offer any information in regards to retail pricing for any of the products or services that it sells, but shop.com does have this information readily available for certain items.

What Should I Know About The Compensation Plan?

Moving to the compensation plan that Market America is offering, affiliates are able to earn money by selling products to retail customers in a number of different ways.

Shop.com Cashback

Looking specifically at shop.com, affiliates can earn a cashback amount on purchases that are made both by themselves and personally recruited members that they’ve gotten to join Market America

Retail Commissions

Simultaneously, any product that’s purchased by retail customers via shop.com and Market America’s own other storefront. As for the rate that’s paid out, Market America says that it ranges from 30-50% depending on what specific products are sold.

MLM Commission Qualification

In order to earn the MLM commissions available through Market America, you’ll need to be seen as activated and qualified.

In order to be qualified, you need to ensure that you’re generating at least 200 BV. BV stands for Business Volume, and it’s connected to “exclusive products” that are purchased by both an affiliate and referred retail customers that they’ve secured.

As for being an activated affiliate, you need to first be a qualified member and then recruit two other people who are qualified as well.

Residual Commissions

Once you’re totally qualified for the MLM commissions, you can then earn residual rates.

This money is paid to members through the use of a binary system, and positions within the system are filled through both direct and indirect recruitment.

BV is generated when purchases are made, and commissions are then sent out when certain point values are reached for the BV that’s being generated.

Conclusion for Market America

In conclusion, Market America has a pretty decent business model going for it that could result in you making a fair amount of money with enough time and talent sunk into the setup.

The shop.com setup is your typical e-commerce platform that we’ve seen a few other times before, with opportunities existing for cashback bonuses and commissions for affiliate when referred retail customers make purchases as well.

It’s worth noting that the possibility for chain-recruitment does exist with the way that affiliates qualify for the MLM commissions, but you can determine whether or not this is taking place by speaking with your potential upline.

I’d like it if Market America put some systems in place so that retail requirements are more prevalent, but at the time of writing this review, Market America might still be worth checking out.

With enough of a focus on retail activity on both your end and your upline/downline, you could very well earn some legit and honest money here.
