What Is The Amway Opportunity?
Amway is one of the top leaders in the MLM world, but according to a recent investigation that was conducted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, it looks like the Vietnam arm of Amway isn’t as squeaky clean as one might expect.
The investigation reports were published on January 12th of this year (2017), and it shows that Amway Vietnam was entirely unable to showcase legitimate evidence that it had successful fulfilled its requirement of informing the Departments of Industry and Trade for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th that it had officially made necessary changes to its MLM registered activities that are taking place within the company.
To put all of that into terms that are a bit easier to understand, a violation of these acts means that Amway Vietnam failed to properly inform numerous business departments about its activities – resulting in a direct violation of Clause 17 of Decree 42/2014/ND-CP that’s part of the official state management for any and all MLM activities.
What does Clause 17 consist of though?
Clause 17 states that a company operating as an MLM entity must receive confirmation from the local Department of Industry and Trade that it has been notified properly of the MLM activities and functions the company is question is partaking in.
Amway Vietnam apparently forgot to do this, and that’s why they’re now facing a bit of trouble.
Furthermore, Amway makes training materials available to its distributors through www.welcome2amway.com, but there isn’t any clear notification for distributors so that they know they’re receiving training on how to be successful within the company.
The Vietnam branch of Amway has numerous e-commerce sites that it’s currently running, with these including the following –
- www.bodykey.vn
- www.nutrilite.com.vn
- www.hotro.phonghopamway.com.vn
Along with this, Amway Vietnam also allows its numerous distributors to enact orders and pay for them through the website of www.amway2u.com.vn.
At the time of this writing, Amway Vietnam is currently seeking permission from the official Vietnam E-commerce and Information Technology Agency to carry out their activities in the MLM field.
The Vietnam E-commerce and Information Technology Agency is hosted under MoIT, and last year in 2016, MoIT was directly responsible for various investigations of a heap of MLM opportunities in an effort to ensure that state management of these sort of businesses is as secure and tight as possible. These investigations caused many MLM opportunities in Vietnam to either get their license revoked or voluntarily cease and desist with their operations, so will something similar happen to Amway?
It’s a bit too early to tell what’s going to take place in this case just yet, but it’ll certainly be interesting to see how one of the giants in the MLM industry responds to Vietnam’s tightening grip on the MLM market in the area.
Is Amway A Scam?
So, like with all business opportunities, you will hear things around the internet about there being a Amway scam or something like that.
And from what you have read, you may also wonder if this is legit or a complete scam.
So, what’s the truth? Is there a Amway scam going on or is this legit?
Well, to be honest, Amway is not really a proper scam or anything like that.
But there are some things to be aware of (see conclusion section).
