Just What Are MLM Leads?

what are mlm leadsSo, you may have heard lots of hype about getting “as many leads as possible” for your MLM business.

That is great, but why do we need leads?

More importantly: what are MLM Leads exactly?

Do leads convert to signups or are they just tire kickers?

I get some people who may not have worked in marketing before or within multi-level marketing, internet marketing or any kind of business for that matter.

They may have worked within a job and not within a marketing department and they’re not really sure what leads actually are and what they comprise of.

People say to me all the time: “Nick, what does MLM leads mean? What does a lead count as? Is it just a visitor to your website?”

So, hopefully in this post I’m going to tell you a bit about this and shed a bit of light on the most important necessity for your network marketing business.

In fact, leads are the lifeblood for any business. Every business needs a “regular flow” interested potential customers, and multi-level marketing is no different.

So, What Are MLM leads?

Essentially, you will have people who have raised their hand or expressed an interest in hearing more about what you’ve got to say.

These are people who have stumbled upon you (somehow).

They’ve been knocking around on the internet or they’ve seen one of your ads and they are clearly wanting more from life. This is becoming very common when the economy is constantly in chaos.

They want to escape the nine to five by getting involved in network marketing, or maybe they are in their own business, and they just want something completely different.

But they are people who have expressed an interest by opting in, normally done on the internet by giving their name and email address, and joining your mailing list.

After all of this, they have become your lead.

One of the main benefits is that you can continue to market to them over time because you have “captured” their details. See my post here that explains how this is done through email marketing.

So really it’s quite simple.

Leads are “real people” who have expressed an interest in what you’re offering.

Now, there are different ways of getting MLM leads and I’ve done lots of posts about that.

If you check out this post, you’ll see a post I’ve done about the difference between free and paid leads on the internet, and there’s another post here about how you can build your email list fast.

Finally, there’s also my free lead generation e-book below:

As a summary, your leads are real people who have an interest in hearing more about your business opportunity.

Not All Leads Are Equal

You’ll have some leads that are very warm: they have personally “discovered” you on the Internet and are generally interested in what you’re offering.

And you’ll have paid leads that you have purchased from a company.

These leads are often very cold because they don’t know who you are, so it’s like receiving a “cold call”.

Imagine if you got a call from someone that you don’t know. It would take a very good salesman to grab your attention.

The problem with purchased leads is that there is “no association” to cling onto.

Even if you explain the company, people will most often be unhappy at receiving an unsolicited call.

The best kinds of leads are the ones that you generate yourself.

I explain this in-depth in my how to effectively work an mlm business video below so I recommend watching and taking notes:
